Representing SGF we have Ona Koning (Bronze), Choong Zi Cheng (5th), Sherilyn Phua (6th), Coach Cheryl (10th), Denise Seah (13th), Ashley Mae Harrison (15th), Lauren Leow (18th), Ellen Yang (19th) and Ennabelle Tan (24th).
In the pools stage, Coach Cheryl won all her bouts in the pools, and was ranked 4th after pools. Splendid fencing from Ona as she won 5 out of 6 of her bouts! With 4 victories in the pools are Zi Cheng, Denise and Sherilyn. With 3 victories is 14 year old Ashley, a good result in a Senior Open competition. Lauren won 2 in her pools and Ennabelle won 1 in her pools.
Teammates Denise and Zi Cheng met in the Table of 32, with Zi Cheng progressing into the Quarter Finals, finishing 5th overall. Lauren and Ashley too met in the Table of 32, a nail biting bought saw Ashley winning the priority point, earning her a place in the Table of 16.
Sherilyn won her Top 32 bout confidently 15-8, and continued the good fencing upseeding Rank 7 15-7 to earn her place in the Top 8! A great performance from Sherilyn on her first Top 8 finish in a Senior competition! Coach Cheryl finished in the Table of 16 after a 14-15 bout.
Ona came out victorious after a nail biting 15-14 in the Table of 16, and was amazing in her Quarter-Finals, winning it 15-12. This earned her a place in the Top 4, winning her a Bronze Medal in the Women's Epee Individual Event!

Representing SGF we have Coach Samson (Gold), Tyler Chan (Bronze), Mark Dembitz (11th), Jonas Chan Ze Xian (18th), Timothy Sim (25th), David Leow (28th), Elson Tan (30th), Olivier Lo (32nd), Matthew Pang (34th), Rusev Edgar (35th), Emmet Wong (38th) and Javian Choong (39th).
Coach Samson and 17 year old Ze Xian dominated their pools with all victories. Great work from Ze Xian as this is a Senior competition! Mark finished pools with 4 victories. David, Tyler and Timothy with 3 victories. Olivier, Matthew and Elson with 2 victories, Javian, Edgar and Emmett with 1 victory.
In the Table of 64, Matthew and Edgar bowed out 6-15 and 3-15 respectively. Olivier won his Table of 64: 15-11 to progress into the Table of 16, where he finished 32 overall.
In the Table of 32, Coach Samson won his opponent with 15-5 to move into the 16. David finished 28th after a loss to is opponent 8-15. Elson was placed 30th overall after finishing in the Table of 32: 11-15, and Timothy 25th after finishing 8-15 with his opponent. Ze Xian unfortunately finished 18th in the Table of 32.
Tyler and Mark won their Table of 32 opponents in tightly fought bouts, 15-14 and 14-13 respectively to progress into the Table of 16. Tyler continued his good form, emerging victorious in his Top 16 bout, 15-12, qualifying for the Quarter-Finals. He sealed his place in the Top 4, with a beautifully fenced bout, winning 15-11. Winning a Bronze Medal!
Coach Samson won his Semi Final bout in an intense 12-7, and kept his focus throughout, clear on what he needed to do, he won the Gold Medal after finishing his Finals 13-11!
What a great feeling, to be sharing the podium with your student. We are all very proud of all of you!
