On the 14th-15th of November, we had organised the SGF Épée Invitational which is an invitational competition that allows our students to put what they had learnt and practiced during their training to the test.

In the Secondary 1 Girl's category, schoolmates Angel Goh and Tan Xin Hui from Pasir Ris Crest Secondary came in joint-third. In a intense final between Denise Seah (Greendale) and Wong Shi Xuan (Raffles Girls), it was Shi Xuan who came out on top over clinching the gold medal and Denise winning the Silver.

In the Secondary 1 Boy's category, Malvan Tan (PRCS) and Quek Nash (GDL) fought their way to the semi-finals with both of them clinching the bronze medal. Zhang Jun Hao (GDL) emerged as the overall winner of the event winning Cevin Sun (SGF) in the finals.

In the Secondary 2&3 Boys category, Muhammad Irfan (BPGH) and Zjien Ng from (GDL) both attained a bronze medal while Elson Tan (SGF) won Jonas Chan (GDL) in the finals to finish 1st and 2nd respectively.

In the Secondary 2&3 Girl's category, Lauren Leow (SGF) and Abriella Lau (GDL) displayed great composure to reach the semi-finals to win Bronze. In the closely fought finals between Ona Koning (PRCS) and Carol Lee (GDL), it was Ona that won the Champion Title and Carol winning herself a Silver Medal!

Overall, we are sure that every single fencer that had participated in this competition had walked away learning something more about themselves and their fencing. Regardless of the result, we are proud of every single one of you!

On the 12th of November, three of our little warriors Ashley Mae Harrison, Vittorio Poli and Jonas Lim travelled to Malaysia for the FT Youngstars 2019 Under-12 Epee competition.

In the Under-12 Girl's Epee category, Ashley Mae Harrison had started the day strong by winning all her bouts in the poules. In the direct elimination table, she managed to overcome her opponents and progressed all the way to the semi-finals where she attained a bronze medal!

Well done Ashley!

In the Under-12 Boy's Epee category, our boys Vittorio Poli and Jonas Lim had fought their hearts out from the start of the competition all the way to the quarter-finals where both of them had narrowly lost their bouts by one point.

All three of our little warriors had shown so much maturity for their age and we are proud of them for fighting their hearts out in every single bout!

Keep up the good work!

The Singapore Cadet Challenge 2019 took place from the 28th-29th September 2019 with a fantastic showing from our fencers! This competition provides points for the fencers which will contribute to the overall under-17 rank of our fencers at the end of the season.

In the Men’s Épée Individual event, Ryan Tan despite having to juggle with his O’ level commitments fought hard throughout the day, eventually losing to his fellow national teammate in the finals earning himself a silver medal while in 7th Place we have Jacob Lim Yet Honng followed by Zjien Ng Yee Sheng in 8th Place!

In the Women’s Épée Individual event, Ona Koning (PRCS) finished 3rd winning a bronze medal while Choong Zi Cheng (GDL) made it to the quarter-finals and finished in a respectable 7th position! What a great performance! This bodes well as both of them are only 14 this year!

Our fencers showed true grit and determination by balancing both their sports and studies. No matter the results, we are proud of you!
